Gene`s Oyster Bar in Panama City

The only 5 star oyster bar in the area!! Limited seating, but unlimited taste... the atmosphere, the food and the service is much like you would have experienced 40 years ago.... truly a local treasure.. take cash, they don't accept credit cards....

You guys are awesome but you need to expand. There are not enough seats.

Gene's Oyster Bar is a throw back to the past. It's an absolutely fantastic Oyster Bar!!!!! Well worth stopping in an having a dozen raw or baked!!!!!!

Just a little hole in the wall but DAMN! It's a must when I visit my parents in PCB. Definitely not a "tourist trap" type restaurant. No frills mostly locals. Definitely worth a trip over the bridge if you're staying in PCB.

I grew up about three blocks from Gene's and used to go their own regular basis with my parents. Have not been back for more than 35 years and surprisingly nothing has changed services still great and the food is extraordinary. Every time I go back to Panama City it will always be on my to do list.

One of the reasons I helped bring a new business to Panama City. Love the ambiance, and great oysters. No wonder gene' has been there so many years.

If you haven't been yet then don't miss it. I had shucked oysters. My friends had fried oysters, grouper, shrimp, & clam chowder. They were already sold out of their oyster stew, which I am told us amazing. I will be back on my next visit to Panama City, you can bet on that.A lot of folk from Flordia Baptist Disaster Relief frequent Gene's Oyster Bar when they are in town. I am sure their reputation has been spread across this nation by the volunteers that have come from states as far as Alaska, Hawaii, New York, Colorado, California, North & South Carolina.

This place is so great! A little hole in the wall with a long history. Food is great and service was great too. The seating is limited but worth going to.

Very small mom and pop type joint. Quant, food could be better in my own opinion but everything overall was good!

Oysters are farm raised and everybit as good as wild oysters. Their grouper throats are delicious. Cash only, no alcohol sold.

This is the absolute go to spot for the freshest oysters anywhere. We have gone there for years and it is our favorite for no nonsense great seafood! Everything is delicious and I suggest getting there early if going for lunch. Love love love!

Chef Jennifer Lowe is a great chef and everything I've ate there has been amazing. The Owner Ms. Brunner is such a wonderful Lady and always has a smile on her face . The best home town Oyster bar in town.

My favorite place to eat oysters whenever I visit Panama City. I was taken there the first time when I was in fourth grade by my Dad. I’m 60 years old now. Best fresh Oysters you will find. Highly recommend. They don’t take credit cards it’s just cash deal. Enjoy.

The BEST oysters! Historic place off the usual touristy path. So fresh...they shuck open the oysters right in front of you. Gumbo is authentic and delicious. We got the loaded baked oyster and they were fabulous! Highly recommend! The Sweet tea was tasty too!

Very fresh, delicious raw oysters. A small, cottage-like no frills place but clean and newer feeling on the outside. Definitely a local secret as it's off the beaten path!

There's no place like home. I can not come home and not visit Ms.Anne and family(staff) at Gene's Oyster Bar. If you're looking for quaint restaurant and great oysters along with awesome customer service this is your place!!Remember, if you're going to consume raw oysters just know that there is a "safe" season which is September-April (cooler months).

The food is great. A little pricey for meals with small or no side dish. Baked oysters are delicious, and Shrimp scampi except only served with crackers.

The oysters are the best you just have to tell them what you want and they will make them for you

The coolest old-school vibe, great conversation with your personal oyster shucker on the opposite side of the bar. Very personable, friendly, and genuine staff. LOVED IT. Will be back everytime I come through town.

Food was outstanding!! Highly recommend this place. Do NOT go if you have a large party. There are only about 15 seats in the entire place and they are all bar stools. Not appropriate for infants, etc. The loaded baked oysters are the best I've had, the gumbo was very good, and the fried shrimp and grits are awesome!

Sublime culinary experience! Clam chowder is outerworldly, fresh fried fish is superb, and you just can't ask for better cheese grits! Will be coming back at any chance I have in the future! Many thanks to Mrs. Ann for her charming iconic southern hospitality!
